Through a partnership established in 2023, United Way British Columbia (UWBC) has reached a milestone of 5,000 deliveries fulfilled through Project DASH. This collaboration helps community members across ten cities – including Vancouver, Burnaby, Abbotsford, and Victoria – access food and other essential items more easily.

To mark the milestone, DoorDash and United Way BC gathered with local leaders, frontline staff, and partners at Burnaby Regional Community Food Hub at Burnaby Neighbourhood House to recognize the impact of the program and the growing need it supports.
“Reaching 5,000 deliveries through Project DASH is an incredible milestone. Since the onset, this project has addressed a critical gap in services – delivering food and other essential items to individuals and families who would otherwise be left behind,” said Alžběta Sabová, Director of Food Security at United Way BC. “Working alongside partners like Burnaby Neighbourhood House and DoorDash allows us to better understand and respond to local needs, while extending the reach of community-based programs.”
United Way BC partners with dozens of community organizations from regional community food hubs like Burnaby Neighbourhood House, Fernwood Neighbourhood House, and Earthwise Society to food banks and community agencies across the province to access Project DASH deliveries.
“This milestone represents thousands of times where someone accessed food or essentials that they otherwise may have not been able to,” said Brian Kaufmann, Head of Policy at DoorDash Canada. “Getting to and from a community hub isn’t always easy for many neighbours and that's what Project DASH is all about: using our platform to help remove barriers and support organizations doing incredible work on the ground.”
Project DASH is a DoorDash initiative that connects social impact organizations — including food banks and community agencies — with reliable last-mile delivery. By enabling delivery directly to people’s homes, the program helps address barriers faced by seniors, individuals with limited mobility, and those without reliable access to transportation.
More than 1,000 Dashers in British Columbia have supported Project DASH deliveries, transporting food hampers from distribution hubs directly to community members. As demand for community-based support continues to grow, partnerships like this are helping extend the reach of local organizations — ensuring more people can access what they need, when they need it.
