Dot uses advanced sensors and computers, similar to a robotaxi, to detect people, pets, cyclists, and obstacles. Traveling at safe biking speeds on roads and walking speeds on sidewalks, Dot will stop or reroute if needed.
Your order rides inside Dot’s locked, insulated compartment and unlocks through the DoorDash app when it arrives. Your delivery fees will be the same as they are with a Dasher.
Merchants

Dot relies on lidar, cameras, radar, and AI-powered decision-making to move safely and reliably — even through complex areas like parking lots, major roads, and busy neighborhood streets.
If Dot encounters an issue, remote operators can step in to assist, and a local operations team is on hand to resolve anything that can’t be managed remotely.
Dot uses cameras, lidar, and radar sensors to navigate safely. Dot does not use facial recognition, and no driving data is connected to any customer or passerby on the street. Limited sensor data may be used to improve the autonomous driving system, but it is never shared with partners, and only provided to authorities if required by law.
Dashers remain, and will always be, essential to DoorDash. Dot will help us keep pace with our growing demand and ensure customers always get quick and reliable deliveries. By combining autonomy and human delivery, we can meet growing demand and create new earning opportunities, expanding access to local commerce for everyone.
