Today, DoorDash released our 2025 U.S. Economic Impact Report, which shows that when people shop, earn, and order through DoorDash, those dollars stay local.

Every time someone orders from a neighborhood business, a Dasher uses their earnings to cover an unexpected bill, or a local florist gets a customer they never would have reached before joining DoorDash, that's local commerce working the way it should.

In 2025, DoorDash supported more than $130 billion in U.S. economic activity, including nearly $25 billion in tax revenues and more than 1.5 million full-time equivalent jobs, with the impact driven by local businesses, Dashers, and consumers in communities of every size.

“Local commerce is about people choosing to support the businesses in their communities, and DoorDash makes that choice easier,” said Cheryl Young, Head of Policy Research at DoorDash. “This report shows what happens when consumers can shop local more conveniently, Dashers can earn on their own terms, and local businesses have the tools to grow: billions of dollars stay in local communities, and local economies thrive."

Local Businesses: Keeping Dollars In Communities

DoorDash continues to be one of the most important tools for local businesses. As of December 2025, more than 600,000 merchants partnered with DoorDash, helping them connect with customers and keep dollars in their communities. In 2025, merchants generated over $60 billion in sales on the platform, representing economic activity that went to family-run restaurants, local grocers and florists, and other neighborhood businesses that are the backbone of local economies.

In our 2025 merchant survey, we see that DoorDash is more than a way for these businesses to grow. For a significant share of businesses, it’s the reason they can reach new customers or exist at all.

“They’re always rolling out new features. For example, DoorDash has DoorDash Capital, so based on your revenue, they can offer you a cash advance, and it gets paid back automatically through future orders. They were one of the first to do that. And there were times — especially with seasonal dips — when we needed a little boost, and that product was right there when we needed it. They’re thoughtful about what merchants actually want and need, and they’re usually the first to take a risk on new ideas. — Adam Moon of Lazy Daisy

Consumers: Shopping Local Has Never Been Easier

DoorDash helps more and more consumers shop local and keep dollars in their communities. A majority of consumers say DoorDash makes it easier to support local businesses in their communities, whether that’s a new neighborhood restaurant or a local grocer or home-grown retailer they wouldn’t have found on their own.

DoorDash also helps consumers connect with loved ones: 55% have ordered for someone outside their own household, including 28% who sent a meal to someone dealing with a health issue and 20% to someone facing financial hardship.

Dashers: Flexible Earning That Keeps Money Moving Locally

More than 8 million people chose to dash in 2025, earning nearly $20 billion on their own terms. Dashers tell us that flexibility is what draws them to dashing over other earning opportunities, helping them take care of their loved ones, meet their financial goals, and make meaningful connections in their communities.

"I enjoy getting to know different areas in my community and I enjoy the feeling of knowing I am helping people. Come on, I bring pizza to the pizza party, medicine to the sick baby, food to the disabled. It’s a lifesaver for many including my family,” one Dasher told us.
