DoorDash Joins Former Mayor Suarez and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce to Celebrate Miami Flavor Fest and Support Local Restaurants
DoorDash is investing $6M to bring its local restaurant-week style celebration to six cities — including Miami — to connect consumers to the local businesses they love.
MIAMI, FL — Yesterday, DoorDash joined former Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce at KYU in Wynwood to support Miami Flavor Fest, the company's online, restaurant-week style occasion. The $6 million campaign spans six cities and features more than 2,400 local storefronts, including KYU and other local favorites.
Flavor Fest, which runs now through August 23, is part of DoorDash's Unlocking Main Street Agenda, DoorDash's national initiative to support local businesses. Former Mayor Suarez has long been a champion for Miami's local business community and one of the city's most vocal advocates for creating an environment where small businesses and entrepreneurs can thrive.
"Miami's restaurants are the soul of this city — they're where families gather, where cultures come together, and where the entrepreneurial spirit that makes Miami unlike anywhere else comes alive. Flavor Fest is a real investment in the local businesses that keep our neighborhoods vibrant, and I'm proud to stand with DoorDash in supporting the people who make Miami's food scene one of the best in the world," said Former Miami Mayor Francis Suarez.
"Miami's restaurant community is one of the most diverse and dynamic in the country, and it deserves every bit of support we can give it. The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce is proud to stand with DoorDash on Flavor Fest, an initiative that drives real economic activity, shines a light on local restaurants, and reminds the community of what we can do if we all support one another," said PJ Campbell, Vice President of Governmental Affairs, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
"Miami has always had one of the most exciting food scenes in the country, and Flavor Fest is our way of helping more people experience it. From KYU in Wynwood to iconic spots like Fireman Derek’s and Sergio's, this city's restaurants are what make Miami truly special. We're proud to invest in the local businesses and the people behind them," said Jake Holmgreen, Head of Florida Government Relations at DoorDash.
“We’re proud to have hosted yesterday’s event at KYU and to be part of something that shines a meaningful spotlight on Miami’s incredible restaurant community. DoorDash has been a true partner to us and an integral part of our growth and connection to the community. Flavor Fest is a great reflection of that partnership, and we’re thrilled to be involved. We hope today inspires even more Miamians to get out, explore, and support the local restaurants that make this city so vibrant and unique," said Chef Raheem Sealey, KYU Restaurants Global Executive Chef.
Summer can be one of the hardest seasons for local restaurants, with heat waves, vacation travel, and seasonal slowdowns pulling some customers away from the neighborhood spots they love. Flavor Fest helps by showcasing the best of each city's restaurants and encouraging consumers to shop local.
The Unlocking Main Street policy blueprint includes specific, proven policies like "First Year Free" that waive fees for new businesses and shot-clock permitting that pushes governments to act in days instead of months. We estimate these reforms could unlock as much as $10 billion in savings through fee and fine reductions for small businesses and increased sales for restaurants by reducing permit delays.
DoorDash piloted Flavor Fest earlier this year in the Washington, D.C. area, where the campaign featured more than 300 local storefronts backed by a $700,000 DoorDash investment. The result: 196,000 residents enjoyed new and favorite dishes, and participating store locations saw more than 20% week-over-week growth in orders during launch week.
How Flavor Fest Works
Participating restaurants will be featured in a dedicated Flavor Fest section of the DoorDash app, making it easy for consumers to discover local spots they may have never tried.
Consumers will receive 30% off orders of $15 or more from any participating restaurant (up to $8 off) through August 23.
DoorDash is also bringing back the Order Local Challenge, which rewards consumers for supporting multiple local spots — ordering from local restaurants can unlock 40% off or more on your next order.
To find participating restaurants near you, open the DoorDash app and look for the Flavor Fest section.
