LCBO products are now available for same-day delivery with DoorDash. Building on DoorDash’s commitment to connect Canadians with the best of their neighbourhood, this new offering allows for the safe and convenient delivery of alcohol to Ontario residents of legal drinking age.
DoorDash is planning to expand this LCBO offering to reach almost 70% of the Ontario population with inventory from over 300 LCBO stores available on the app by the end of 2023.
“Ontario-residents can now have their favourite local or international beer, wine, and spirits from the LCBO delivered straight to their doorstep,” said Shilpa Arora, General Manager at DoorDash Canada. “We’re proud to bring this convenience to Ontario’s fingertips, and to uphold our responsibility through industry-leading alcohol delivery safety features.”
DoorDash is deeply committed to responsible alcohol delivery and has implemented robust and industry-leading safety features. More specifically, deliveries will be completed by Smart Serve certified Dashers, who will use DoorDash’s advanced two-step ID verification process, which enhances how IDs are checked before alcohol is delivered. Here’s how it works:
Before completing their first purchase, Customers must upload their ID which is subject to a validation process to check the validity of the ID and that the Customer is of legal drinking age.
Before completing each delivery, Dashers are prompted to physically check a customer’s ID and also scan the ID with the DoorDash app to help verify they are of legal drinking age.
The Dasher is also prompted to check for any signs of intoxication.
The delivery may only be completed after each of the above steps is successfully completed.
LCBO products are also available via DashPass, DoorDash’s subscription program that offers $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders from thousands of grocery, convenience, and retail stores nationwide.* DashPass members can enjoy these benefits on all eligible orders that meet the minimum subtotal, with a free 12-month subscription available for Amazon Prime members.**
