Every time someone uses DoorDash - whether ordering essentials, delivering orders, or running a business - they deserve to feel safe, respected, and confident that everyone is following the same rules. Safety and respect are foundational. Both are essential to making our platform work for everyone, every time. 

While we have always had policies outlining the standards we expect and prohibited behavior, they have been spread across different legal documents and webpages, making them harder to find. And while users may have understood the policies relevant to their role - whether as a Dasher, Consumer, or Merchant - they may not have been aware of the rules as applied to others. 

Simply put - users have asked for even more transparency, simplicity, and clarity, along with better explanations of why these policies exist and how they are developed. 

That is why we’re introducing clear, simple Community Guidelines for all users, all in one place. By making everyone’s rights and responsibilities clearer, we aim to create an even safer, more respectful platform for all. The guidelines are built around four core principles: 

  • Respect: Everyone should treat others with kindness and respect, so that everyone feels comfortable and has a positive experience using DoorDash. Harassment, discrimination, and inappropriate use of personal information are not allowed.

  • Safety: Safety is one of our highest priorities, and we strive to create an environment where everyone feels safe. Creating a risk of physical or emotional harm, taking or damaging personal property, or compromising food safety are not allowed. 

  • Authenticity: DoorDash strives to promote a safe and positive experience, so we ask Dashers, Merchants and Customers to accurately represent themselves and use their own account when using DoorDash. Depending on how you use the platform as a Dasher, Customer, or Merchant, we may have different requirements for individual verification and eligibility.

  • Integrity: We ask everyone who uses DoorDash to act with honesty and with integrity. The platform should not be manipulated for monetary gain or to engage in other bad faith or nefarious behavior.

The vast majority of DoorDash users follow the rules, but unfortunately, some do not. When our rules are violated, we aim to respond fairly and proportionately, matching the severity of our response to the violation. We have a range of enforcement tools - from warnings to deactivations - to respond appropriately. To further ensure fairness, all users can appeal decisions or actions. 

Importantly, while our core principles may not change, our specific policies will continue to evolve over time. We will keep listening to users, watch what is happening on our platform, and work to improve both our policies and how we communicate them.
