DoorDash Canada and Black Opportunity Fund are proud to celebrate 17 Black-owned and Black-led businesses across Canada who will be receiving #BlackFoodEnergy grants in the amount of $10,000 CAD each to support the growth of their businesses. This comes months after DoorDash Canada committed $800,000 CAD in grants for Black-owned and Black-led businesses in Canada to be distributed by the end of 2025.
“We were nothing short of inspired reading the individual stories of Black chefs and Black restaurateurs highlighted in each application, as the passion exhibited by these entrepreneurs is unmatched,” said Delly Dyer, Head of Consumer Brand Marketing at DoorDash Canada. "These grants are more than financial support. They’re a celebration of Black cultures throughout the country and recognize the important contributions of business owners within their neighbourhoods.”
Recipients receiving #BlackFoodEnergy grants span provinces from coast to coast, featuring cuisines from Ghana, Senegal, Ethiopia, and beyond. Each awardee clearly showcased what #BlackFoodEnergy means to them, in addition to highlighting how they intend to leverage the grant to support the growth of their business.
