With the 2022-’23 NBA season officially underway, the NBA, WNBA, and DoorDash are working together to make an impact off the court. Announced today, Score One for The Neighborhood is a community initiative designed to help kids and teens facing food insecurity in the U.S and Canada.

To bring the initiative to life, DoorDash will partner with No Kid Hungry for a national campaign that is working to end childhood hunger by helping to launch and improve programs that give all kids the healthy foods they need to thrive. For every free throw made throughout the 2022 – ‘23 NBA season and the 2023 WNBA season, DoorDash will provide up to 40 meals for kids and teens facing food insecurity.*

Additionally, in Canada, DoorDash is partnering with Breakfast Club of Canada, an organization that works with partners from all sectors to help children access a nutritious breakfast and reach their full potential. For every free throw made throughout the ‘22 – ‘23 NBA season and ‘23 WNBA season, DoorDash will help provide up to 10 healthy breakfasts for kids.**

“We are very excited to be participating in this generous campaign, which will allow us to not only raise funds, but also raise awareness for the cause,” explained Tommy Kulczyk, President and CEO at Breakfast Club of Canada. “With the high cost of food, living and transport continuing to impact our daily operations, more than ever, the Club needs support to be able to continue to help children across Canada access a nutritious meal in the morning. Working with important partners like DoorDash will help bring us closer to our goal, breakfast for every child, every day.”

The campaign tips off on social media with support from NBA player Jalen Brunson and WNBA player, Chiney Ogwumike.

“I love the ability basketball has to bring people together to do good in the community, and I’m happy to team up with DoorDash to support such an important cause,” said New York Knicks point guard, Jalen Brunson. “I look forward to working with my team this year to make every score for us a score for the neighborhood.”

Throughout the season, the initiative will aim to celebrate the impact sports has on connecting communities and making a positive impact. NBA fans can follow NBA US & CAN social media for ongoing updates on the impact of this campaign.
