DoorDash is delivering the drama and your next meal. "Not That Dramatic," a new brand campaign from one of Canada's leading on-demand commerce platforms, treats the ordinary decision to order delivery like a scene from a period drama. The two spots are full of longing, tension, and a “will-they-won't-they” plot that disappears instantaneously the moment DoorDash's value kicks in.
Developed with Wieden+Kennedy Toronto, the campaign taps into a relatable feeling before ordering in: a brief back-and-forth about whether it's really in the cards. Each of the two period-piece parodies exaggerates and dramatizes that palpable moment through cinematic performances, only to release the tension the moment DoorDash’s value enters the frame. Both prominently feature DashPass, DoorDash's membership program, which offers $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders from restaurants, grocers and retailers in Canada.
"The Forbidden Order" (English | French) – The first spot pulls from an 1800s forbidden romance, capturing how ordering in can feel like something you truly want, but maybe shouldn't have, then fully dedicate to anyway. With $0 delivery fees as a core DashPass benefit, DoorDash turns a once-dramatic decision into an easy one.
"For All Of Us" (English | French) – The second spot unfolds during an emotional 1970s train station goodbye between two parents, weighing whether ordering in is really worth it. They realize DashPass is free for them as Amazon Prime members, resolving the debate instantly.
"There's naturally a little bit of unspoken drama before you order in, even though the answer always ends up being a resounding yes," says Heather Cameron, Head of Brand and Creative at DoorDash Canada. "These mini-dramas are about giving Canadians permission to waive the drama upfront and showing how to fully embrace more value with every order by saving money on fees with DashPass.”
"What we loved about this idea is that it's rooted in a behaviour everyone recognizes,” said Caroline Friesen, Executive Creative Director at Wieden+Kennedy Toronto. “We've all had that moment of debating whether to order in, so by dramatizing it, we turned a relatable insight into something inherently entertaining.”
"Not That Dramatic" rolls out nationally in English and French across TV, Connected TV, online video, gaming, and digital platforms, beginning with "The Forbidden Order" on July 27, 2026 and introduces "For All Of Us" to the mix beginning August 10, 2026 – all running through September 30, 2026.
