DoorDash was founded with a mission to grow and empower local economies. In 2023, we continued to advance that mission via our Community Credits program. Through the Community Credits provided to local non-profit organizations, we helped provide greater access to food and essentials, while allowing these organizations to devote more time to supporting their people.
In 2023, DoorDash worked with several local organizations across Canada, providing $128,500 in Community Credits to reduce food insecurity.
In September, we organized a special event alongside Haven on the Queensway to commemorate our partnership via Project DASH - which powers home delivery of charitable food to people experiencing food insecurity in partnership with food banks, food pantries, and various social impact organizations. Our partnership with Haven on the Queensway began in 2022, focusing on delivering food to homebound seniors and supporting the First Care program to assist new mothers in need of critical items. This year, DoorDash provided Haven on the Queensway with $9,500 in Community Credits.
“Haven on the Queensway is grateful for DoorDash’s partnership and support to advance our mission of helping families in need by providing food, clothing, and other critical resources." - Aretha Khaloo, Director of Operations, Haven on the Queensway
In November, we also hosted an event to celebrate our partnership with Red Fox, which received $5,000 in Community Credits to support their Youth Life Skills program - an initiative designed to mentor youth facing barriers by supporting them in learning essential life skills, including nutrition, fitness, critical thinking, media literacy, conflict resolution and financial literacy.
“Thanks to DoorDash’s Community Credits, young people participating in our life skills program were able to use DoorDash gift cards to buy ingredients for learning to cook healthy meals. Youth really appreciated the support of DoorDash and many of them shared that they now love cooking and want to explore careers in the food industry.” - Emma Sutherland, Executive Director, Red Fox Healthy Living Society
