Boston is one of America's great cities — and one where more than 60,000 people earned over $60 million on DoorDash in 2025, while local businesses generated approximately $250 million in additional revenue through our platform. The Dashers making those deliveries every day are essential to the way this city works. That's why we're proud to share that DoorDash has received its operating permit under Boston's new Road Safety and Accountability for Delivery Providers Ordinance.

This didn't happen overnight. When city leaders raised concerns about delivery safety in 2024, DoorDash was at the table, establishing a dedicated escalation channel with the Boston Police Department, accelerating identity verification to prevent account sharing, and launching a multilingual safety campaign in partnership with the City to help Dashers understand local traffic laws and vehicle registration requirements. Today's permit reflects the continuation of that work.

"DoorDash has been a genuine partner to the City of Boston, and receiving this permit is a reflection of that relationship," said Daniela Michanie, Head of New England Public Engagement for DoorDash. "Our goal has always been to support Boston's workers and businesses while helping make its streets safer for everyone. We're proud to keep showing up for this city."

The overwhelming majority of Dashers do the right thing. They follow the rules of the road with very delivery time on our platform designed so that Dashers can complete orders safely. The challenges on Boston's streets are real, but they're complex, and we believe durable solutions come from ongoing collaboration between platforms, the city, law enforcement, and Dashers themselves.
