How DoorDash is celebrating Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage month 2023

Throughout May, we’re celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month in the United States and Canada. Traditionally a time dedicated for remembrance of the many contributions of the Asian Pacific Islander community, we’re kicking off a series of virtual and in-person events at DoorDash in collaboration with our AAPI@ Employee Resource Group.

AAPI Heritage Month 2023

Throughout May, we’re celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month in the United States and Canada. Traditionally a time dedicated for remembrance of the many contributions of the Asian Pacific Islander community, we’re kicking off a series of virtual and in-person events at DoorDash in collaboration with our AAPI@ Employee Resource Group.

On May 3, we’ll develop our green thumb in producing fresh, locally-grown vegetables and fruits at the Seattle Community Farm Helper. On May 5, our San Francisco-based team members will chip in at the SF Marin Food Bank, Illinois Warehouse to help bag groceries for home delivery of fresh fruits and vegetables. And on May 6, we’re hosting a Tzu Chi USA Volunteer Event in New York to distribute food to local, underserved communities.

Our colleagues north of the border will also celebrate with an evening event on May 25 with Cecilia Noon, Co-owner of Isabella’s Mochi Donut. Locals will enjoy hearing Cecilia’s story, while enjoying refreshments representing foods from many cultures, such as sushi, spring rolls, bubble tea, samosas and more.

We’ll wrap up the month with an impactful virtual event featuring Chef Tim Ma, who has been positively impacting the AAPI and food communities for years. We’ll hear from Tim on his experiences growing up in a family of chefs and restaurant owners and his involvement in Chefs Stopping AAPI Hate.

We’re proud to support AAPI and other merchants throughout the year through our Accelerator for Local Restaurants which provide grants, training, and reusable packaging solutions to help grow participants’ businesses.

At DoorDash, we are intentional in our efforts to create a workplace that engages people of all backgrounds, while fostering an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We will continue to prioritize investing in and advancing opportunities for historically underrepresented people.

Our success as a company is firmly rooted in our inclusive culture and in advancing diversity throughout DoorDash to ensure we reflect the global audiences we serve, with learning and development opportunities available to corporate team members covering topics such as how to support allyship, how to speak up against racism at work, and more.
