DoorDash has been working hard to partner with new types of businesses to help customers’ discover the magic of holiday shopping in new ways.
Today, we’re excited to announce that we’re partnering with Macy’s Inc. to power same-day and next-day delivery from more than 500 Macy’s and Bloomingdales store locations nationwide. Powered exclusively by Drive, DoorDash’s white-label fulfillment platform that powers direct delivery for any business, we’re thrilled to help Macy’s and Bloomingdales’ customers shop for all their holiday items – from must-have gifts like cashmere, fine jewelry and advent calendars to in-demand items such as fitness wearables and designer handbags – more conveniently without having to leave their homes. Whether they’re celebrating Hanukkah, Christmas, or Kwanzaa, beginning this holiday season (and all-year-round), planners and last-minute shoppers alike can order gifts for their loved ones and themselves from their local store up to the day of the gift reveal! Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores across 47 states will offer same-day delivery without time slots, queues or minimum order sizes required.
The pandemic has pulled the future forward for retail, where changes that once might have taken years instead happened in months, and we’re here to give merchants the tools they need to help customers shop from their local stores in this socially-distanced environment. By empowering our retail partners to better, and more quickly, serve shopper’s needs for convenience, our partners can reach even more customers.
“America comes to Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s for gifting, and this year will be no different,” said Jeff Gennette, Macy’s, Inc. chairman & CEO. “Our customers want more options, including speed of delivery, and our partnership with DoorDash in 500 stores nationwide means they can take advantage of every option we have available, including same-day delivery, even in the week leading up to Christmas.”
Through this partnership, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s will receive on-demand access to DoorDash’s driver fleet to fulfill customers’ digital orders, whether they are placed well in advance or the morning of an occasion. All orders placed by noon at Macy’s and 1pm at Bloomingdale’s will be delivered same-day, while orders placed after the cut-off will be delivered next-day.
“Same-day delivery brings the magic of in-store shopping home for customers,” said Casey North, Vice President of Drive. “We’re excited to bring this capability to Macy’s so they can delight their customers both during the holiday season and throughout the year. Customers are craving a more convenient, satisfying and safe way to shop, and we’re honored that Macy’s chose our logistics platform to power their on-demand delivery operations, and in turn, delight their customers.”
This partnership marks DoorDash’s first foray into the department store category, and we are thrilled to be launching with one of the nation’s leading department stores. DoorDash Drive helps merchants meet customer delivery demand that they create through their own channels, without the need for in-house infrastructure to support last-mile fulfillment. Our reputation, reliability, commitment to quality and geographic scale were all a factor for Macy’s when selecting a last-mile logistics provider to fulfill their delivery needs.
Delivery will be available later this month through macys.com, the Macy’s Mobile App, and Bloomingdales.com. ‘Tis the season for gift giving!
