We’re devastated by the horrific wildfires in Hawaii and the impact they’ve had on Lahaina and the surrounding communities. Thousands of people are in urgent need of assistance, and we’re taking steps to support relief and recovery efforts in the region in partnership with The American Red Cross, Free & Easy and the Hawaii Firefighters Association.

Here’s how we’re supporting the local community, and more information about relief available to those impacted:

Community Credits

We’re donating $150,000 in Community Credits to support those impacted by the fires. Whether it’s for a hot meal, first aid supplies, diapers, or materials from a local hardware store, residents can use these DoorDash gift cards however is most helpful:

  • $25,000 in credits have been provided to the Hawaii Fire Fighters Association to thank the first responders who have been on the front lines of this horrific tragedy.

  • $125,000 in credits have been donated to the American Red Cross, who is working closely with partners to provide shelter, meals and mental health services to people on the ground. To date, the Red Cross, with help from partners, has provided more than 87,000 meals and snacks to individuals impacted by the fires.

“Our thoughts are with those in need after the devastating wildfires swept through Hawaii,” said Anne McKeough, chief development officer at the American Red Cross. "We are so grateful for partners like DoorDash as we work together to provide comfort and hope for communities in the wake of these catastrophic wildfires.”

Providing Relief to Hawaii Dashers

We know that this is an undeniably challenging time for Dashers, who are an integral part of the Lahaina community. To help Dashers in Lahaina during this period of rebuilding, we’re providing nearly 200 Dashers in the impacted area with a one-time relief payment of $2,000.

When the fires broke out, DoorDash quickly activated our Severe Weather Protocol and suspended operations across Hawaii to help keep Dashers, merchants and customers safe. Now, we’re shifting focus from disaster response to disaster recovery, working hard to support people impacted by the fires and provide support to aid in the aftermath.

We’re deeply grateful to each of our partners, and to the many first responders and volunteers for their efforts during this time of extreme need. DoorDash is continuing to closely monitor the evolving situation in Hawaii and is committed to providing support according to the needs of the community.
