Every year, millions of people turn to the Dasher app for flexible work and extra income to help them reach their goals. That’s why we’re always looking for ways to make dashing easier, more flexible, and more rewarding. From navigating busy streets to improving the in-app experience or creating more opportunities to earn, we’re excited to share some of the latest updates we’ve made for a better Dasher experience on each delivery.
Meet the new Dasher app
When it came to the Dasher app, we kept hearing similar feedback: Dashers want to know if they can get online to dash, and they want to know how much they’ve made so far. We’ve built an all-new Dasher app homescreen that improves how Dashers get online, start earning, and access the features they care about the most. We’ve redesigned every pixel to give Dashers a more simplified homescreen to help better decide where to dash, track earnings, and start and schedule dashes.
Here’s what we’ve changed:
Streamlined Homescreen: We focused on a bigger map and simplified the layout making it easier to start dashing, check high-demand areas, and access earnings.
Real-Time Earnings Tracking: The new earnings button makes it easy to check your earnings from the homescreen, so you can see your progress at a glance throughout a dash or tap for more details.
Offer Wait Time Insights: Dashers can now view the estimated wait time for offers before they dash, and compare wait times between different zones to help decide the best place to dash.
Improved Side Menu: Some of Dashers’ most used features including promos, preferences and ratings are now found just a swipe away in the updated side menu.
Quickly Schedule Dashes: Tap the calendar icon now located next to the ‘Dash’ button to easily schedule a dash in advance.
Switch Earning Modes: Dashers can tap the hourglass icon to choose between ‘Earn by Time’ and ‘Earn by Offer’. If they want to dash in an area they’re not already in, we’ll try to assign them an offer that takes them where they want to go.
Soon, we’re rolling out two key updates – a dashing insights graph and mobile homescreen widget. The new insights graph will help Dashers better understand the best times of day to dash and plan their schedules around other commitments, like school dropoff or social activities. The mobile homescreen widget will enable Dashers to view offer wait times, start a dash, and schedule a dash right from their phone home screen.
A smarter map, built for Dashers
Most third-party maps weren’t created for delivery, especially the last 100 meters from the curb to the door. Dashers told us that sometimes delivery pins led to the wrong spot, like in an alley behind a store or the wrong door at an apartment complex.
That’s why we’ve revamped our mapping platform based on what Dashers need to better support deliveries from the moment an order is placed until the moment it’s delivered. Improved navigation, more accurate delivery pins, and smarter directions now lead to faster, more reliable pick-ups and drop-offs that cut down on wrongly delivered orders or delays. But it’s not only Dashers who benefit from improved mapping – merchants now see faster, more efficient handoffs, and consumers benefit from a quicker, more seamless delivery experience.
This is just the beginning. We’re already working on new ways to use intelligence from past deliveries to improve future ones, and ways for Dashers to have even more accurate directions to walking paths and nearby parking.
More Earnings Opportunities & New Rewards
79% of Dashers surveyed have other income or responsibilities — they might have a full or part time job, take care of their families as a stay-at-home parent, or want some extra spending money while in school — and we know that they want to make the most of their time on the road. That’s where Flash Offers come in, sending recently active Dashers push notifications with boosted pay promotions on select deliveries — even if they’re not currently online. Flash Offers give Dashers a flexible way to earn more between dashes while staying in control of their schedules. In select markets, this makes it easier to access higher-paying offers that might otherwise be harder to find.

We also know that Dashers go above and beyond each day to deliver great service. That’s why we're expanding our existing rewards program to recognize high-quality service on Shop & Deliver orders with new rewards. Pro Shopper recognizes Dashers who nail the details by regularly finding the correct items, making smart substitutions, and selecting high-quality products. Dashers who meet and maintain the criteria can unlock priority access to higher-paying shopping orders, helping boost their earnings as well as access to future perks.

As with any changes we make, we’ll continue to get feedback from Dashers and talk to them directly to find even more ways to improve the dashing experience. This is the experience Dashers know, continuing to be made better.
