Fighting hunger has been a core part of our social impact work from the beginning. Whether it’s ensuring everyone has access to the meals they need through last-mile delivery or supporting nonprofits on the front lines in the fight against hunger, we’re committed to using our platform to serve those who serve others.

September is Hunger Action Month, a time to encourage everyone to get involved in the fight to end hunger. Here’s how we’re playing our part.

A Major Milestone For Project DASH

As Hunger Action Month kicks off, DoorDash is proud to celebrate a major milestone in our mission to help end food insecurity: Project DASH has powered over 8 million deliveries of an estimated 135 million meals to people in need — ensuring that food travels to them, instead of the other way around.

Since its launch in 2018, Project DASH has worked hand-in-hand with local food banks, food pantries, and community organizations to empower them with logistics technology that helps extend their reach. These 8 million deliveries are a showcase of the power of partnership in action.

Powering Local Impact

In 2025, DoorDash has provided more than $1 million through Project DASH Impact Grants and other charitable initiatives. These funds will strengthen food access, expand community capacity, and innovate new models of delivery — from prepared meals for seniors to grocery boxes for post-partum mothers.

Here are just a few of the standout ways our partners are using Project DASH and funding from DoorDash to help meet the need for meals in their communities:

Turning Leftovers Into Lifelines
Bagel Rescue (Atlanta, GA) is expanding to eight new bakery partners, transforming surplus bagels into as many as 2,500 meals a week for families across Atlanta.

Supporting Healing with Every Meal
The Coalition for Food and Health Equity is delivering fresh produce and healthy meals to cancer patients across six counties in New Jersey, reducing food insecurity and improving nutrition through their Pals & Produce program.

Helping Hospitals Deliver Hope
Portland Open Bible Community Pantry (Portland, OR) is tripling its reach to nearly 300 families per month, expanding its delivery radius and partnering with local hospitals to serve children and families in need.

Meeting the Need for New Yorkers
Hear from Alexander Rapaport, Executive Director of the Masbia Soup Kitchen (Brooklyn, NY), on the transformational impact of Project DASH has had for his organization and helping them to serve thousands more New Yorkers with culturally tailored meals than they could before.

Get Involved

Throughout Hunger Action Month, we will spotlight stories of community impact and the Dashers who help make this work possible. We encourage everyone to take action in their own neighborhood — by volunteering at a local food pantry, supporting Hunger Action Month campaigns, or learning more about food insecurity in your community.

DoorDash will encourage customers during Hunger Action Month to support our Project DASH partner Meals on Wheels America and its efforts to help fight senior hunger with increased funding in Congress. We want to thank our incredible partners for helping us reach this milestone of 8 million meals delivered, and look forward to continuing to deliver even more meals to people facing hunger. Organizations interested in partnering with Project DASH should email [email protected].

Together, we can create a future where everyone has access to the food they need to thrive.
