We’re proud that everyday, millions of people dash to reach their goals by earning what they need, when they need it, on their own terms. It’s why our teams are constantly looking for ways to make dashing even better – all by listening to and engaging directly with Dashers for their feedback. As we kickoff 2025, here’s a quick look at key highlights from 2024 – and what’s ahead in 2025.

Flexibility and Choice

Dashers continue to tell us that flexibility and choice is one of the main reasons they dash. It allows them to achieve their goals while working around a full-time job, going back to school, or taking care of a loved one.

Today, our business is so much more than just delivering restaurant orders, and Dashers have more opportunities and optionality when it comes to how they earn on our platform than ever before. Some may prefer to do grocery orders during the afternoon and dinner orders during the evening rush, while others simply have two hours to spare and want to make the most of them, no matter what comes their way.

We fully rolled out our new Dasher Preferences tool that lets Dashers opt in and out of different delivery types like grocery “shop and deliver” orders, alcohol, and cash on delivery, and see what types of tasks they need to complete to get prioritized for their favorite types of offers. Dashers can change their preferences as often as they want – even daily and between dashes – to customize how they dash.

More Valuable Rewards

Based on Dasher feedback, we completely overhauled our old rewards program and introduced three all-new tiers – Silver, Gold, and Platinum – to give Dashers more access than ever before to their favorite features. Our new Rewards program streamlines several of our existing programs into one seamless experience, bringing it directly into the Dasher app to ensure that Dashers who go above and beyond are rewarded and have even more opportunities to earn.

And we’re continuing to listen to feedback as we go: just last month, we announced a new pilot that aims to make Dasher Rewards even more flexible.

Stronger Safeguards

The overwhelming majority of Dashers do the right thing and follow the rules. They’ve been clear with us – they want to feel like the rules are applied fairly and equally to everyone on the road. That’s part of the reason why in December, we further strengthened our safeguards to better ensure that Dashers are who they say they are. We’ve begun rolling out more frequent identity re-verification and new machine learning technology, and are requiring more than 150,000 Dashers to re-verify their identity each week.

And earlier last year, in August, we introduced our biggest-ever update to our account deactivations process, including in-app deactivation appeals with faster response times, protection from false claims with pin-code dropoff, and faster response times.

What’s Ahead In 2025

In 2025, we’re doubling down and going even further when it comes to the areas Dashers care most about – flexibility, rewards, support, and safety. Here’s how:

Overall Dasher Rating: We began piloting a new way to qualify for Dasher Rewards that makes the program even more flexible – an Overall Dasher Rating that uses a composite score to holistically qualify Dashers for rewards. We are actively analyzing results from our first test before determining when and if to scale more broadly.

More Rewards: We think our Rewards program should do exactly what it says – reward Dashers who go above and beyond. That’s why our team is currently hard at work, developing all new perks and benefits to add to our rewards tier to make Dasher Rewards even more valuable.

Dasher Relief Fund: We’re exploring new eligible hardship events for the Dasher Relief Fund, with the goal of helping as many Dashers as possible qualify for an emergency assistance grant when they need it the most.

Flexibility + Ways to Earn: The DoorDash platform has expanded well beyond just restaurant delivery – and we think that means the way Dashers earn should expand, too. Dashers may start to see new delivery types and tasks – like taking photos of menus or confirming a store’s hours. We’re also exploring new ways for Dashers to plan their days in advance by scheduling specific earning opportunities ahead of time.

Ongoing Safety and Security: We will continue to enforce our standards and strengthen our safeguards. The efforts we announced to help ensure every Dasher is who they say they are will continue to scale to new markets throughout 2025, and we’ll explore even more ways to enforce our standards.
