Local restaurants affected by severe storms and tornadoes in Tennessee can now apply for relief funding to help them recover through the DoorDash Restaurant Disaster Relief Fund.
Launched in 2021, the DoorDash Restaurant Disaster Relief Fund, hosted in partnership with Hello Alice and Global Entrepreneurship Network, provides $10,000 relief grants to eligible local restaurants affected by state- or federally-declared natural disasters. The grants can be used to cover operating costs like rent or mortgage repayments, food and beverage inventory, utilities, supplies and materials, and supplier costs.
Restaurants located in Tennessee counties that have received state or federal disaster declarations will be eligible to apply for the grants.
“In the aftermath of these devastating tornadoes, we know that many restaurants will face immense challenges on the road to recovery,” said Sueli Shaw, Head of Social Impact at DoorDash. “We hope that these grants will help impacted restaurants and allow them to get back to serving their communities.”
The average small business loses $3,000 every day they remain closed and nearly 40% of small businesses are unable to reopen at all following a disaster.
In addition to the Fund, DoorDash also supports local partners to help ensure those experiencing food insecurity through Project DASH, which empowers social impact organizations — such as food banks and food pantries — to work with Dashers and use DoorDash technology to increase access to food in their communities.
Restaurant owners can apply for near-term funding now through December 31, 2023 at 6 p.m. ET. Restaurants impacted by this disaster will still be eligible to apply for future funding opportunities in 2024. To learn more and apply, visit https://merchants.doordash.com/en-us/about/disaster-relief-fund
