Since 2018, DoorDash’s Project DASH has powered more than 6 million deliveries of over 100 million meals for food banks, food pantries, and other social impact organizations. As part of our ongoing commitment to broadening food access, this year, we’ve provided more than $1 million total to support our anti-hunger partners’ work to fight food insecurity.

During Hunger Action Month, we’re proud to announce more than 70 additional Project DASH Impact Grants totaling over $300,000 have been awarded to organizations working to eliminate barriers to accessing food and essential goods. These grants will help our partners leverage local delivery to connect their communities with the resources they need most.

Meeting medical and dietary needs

With support from DoorDash, Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana is working to address the complex health needs of the communities they serve through the home delivery of healthy, nutritious food. They will create personalized food assistance programs for an estimated 1,000 people, meeting their specific dietary requirements and preferences.

Supporting new moms and infant health

Produce Perks Midwest will put their Project DASH Impact Grant towards piloting a new home delivery program to support the nutritional needs of new moms and their infants. In partnership with Dayton Children’s Hospital, households will receive two produce box deliveries per month, providing strong nutrition in the first 1,000 days of a child’s life to promote lasting, positive health impacts.

Helping during the holidays

Bread for the City is partnering with DoorDash on their Holiday Helpings program to deliver meal kits of a turkey or chicken and holiday groceries to clients who are immunocompromised, immobile, or who have jobs that prevent them from accessing in-person pantries during normal operating hours. The program has served thousands of families over 30 years, and Bread for the City hopes that expanding its delivery services will enable them to reach even more people with the food they need.

Since its inception, Project DASH has partnered with hundreds of organizations across the U.S. and Canada to connect people with the food and essential goods they need the most:

  • more than 65 million meals delivered to census tracts with a higher rate of SNAP-receiving households than the national average;

  • more than 13 million meals delivered to food deserts and about 16 million meals to rural communities;

  • more than 35 million meals delivered to census tracts with a higher rate of seniors than the national average; and

  • more than 50 million meals delivered to census tracts with a higher rate of people with disabilities than the national average.

This summer, in celebration of more than 100 million meals delivered via Project DASH, DoorDash donated more than $400,000 to Meals on Wheels America, United Way Worldwide, and Feeding America ®. Earlier this year, we announced more than $500,000 in Project DASH Impact Grants and we also provided Project DASH Trailblazer Grants to select partners who leverage Project DASH to serve a large number of households.

In 2023, the Urban Institute released a report, Connecting People with Charitable Food through New Home Delivery Partnerships. The report, supported by DoorDash, found that Project DASH helped alleviate organizational capacity challenges in implementing home delivery, reduced stigma and enhanced convenience, and expanded the communities anti-hunger organizations served, including by connecting hard-to-reach populations with charitable food.

Our partnership with Project DASH is breaking down barriers to access throughout Arizona. The Project DASH Impact Grant will empower us to expand our capabilities and allow us to focus on what we do best: serving our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. It’s a perfect example of how working together can ensure our neighbors have the meals they need.” -Lauren Handwerk, St. Mary’s Food Bank.

Project DASH continues to partner with new organizations to expand the delivery of food and essential items to people experiencing food insecurity. Those interested in learning more can contact the Project DASH team at projectdash@doordash.com
